Sunset Alameda Engagement Session

Also the U.S.S Hornet Museum!

R+N are my kind of people, relaxed, chill and down to explore. I usually go out to mountains, beaches, and the woods/ parks to do portraits. However, I am always willing to go where my couples want. Especially if the location is dear to their hearts. These two definitely wanted a more urban feel than a woodsy or beachy vibe.  Which is why an Alameda engagement session at the Naval Base was the perfect location!

Growing up in the East Bay and when N was a teen, her Dad took her to practice driving in the streets of the Alameda Naval Base since it was largely unpopulated. It was a special place for her and was exactly the backdrop she wanted for her engagement photos. I planned a few spots around the area but also loved the look of the U.S.S Hornet Museum and the views you can get there at sunset so we hit both locations and had a blast. R+N were not afraid to be playful and goofy in front of the camera (my kind of people!) and we had the most amazing time. 

I am so happy that I was able to capture R+N in a way that brings back childhood memories. It will be something that we can’t quite replicate in the future. The Naval Base is changing every time I go back. The older buildings are getting remodeled/demolished and have new and thriving businesses in them. The landscape of these beautiful, colorful buildings is quickly evolving. Many buildings have become gyms, breweries, distilleries and wineries (not a bad place to end up after your shoot).

I can’t wait to share their lovely backyard wedding in Oakland soon!

Why book an Engagement session?

I highly recommend booking an engagement session with your photographer. They are a great way to have portraits that represent you as a couple on a less strained timeframe than your wedding day. It’s also a great way to get used to having your picture taken and have your photographer get to know you a little better too! Also, for me it’s just plain wonderful to see these photos printed out at the wedding. My heart flutters every time!
