Sunny Half Day Mt. Tamalpais Engagement Session.

And Golden Gate Park too!

If I could describe a perfect day, it would be the half day Golden gate park and Mt Tamalpais engagement session I spent with S+D. I know that a half day session sounds like a long time, but it is so wonderful and way more than just a long photo shoot. One of the benefits is that it isn’t a constant shoot where you have to pose and be uncomfortable in front of the camera for 4 hours. Having that much time allows us to not be rushed, enjoy our surroundings, and really get into what we are there for, documenting your love for each other.

S+D had a few places they wanted to go that were meaningful to them. Both of them are Colorado natives who spent the bulk of their relationship in San Francisco and have a great love of the outdoors. Since GG park has so many beautiful, maintained, and wild locations we opted to start there at the Shakespeare Garden. After easing into the day we moved on to a few other locations in the park, even hiking down a path and getting “lost” in the trees. If you have never been, one of the most amazing things about Golden Gate Park is that you can be in busy, more manicured places, like near the Academy of Sciences or the De Young Museum, or Stow Lake. Or you can just walk on paths into the wilder parts and you can feel like you are away from civilization even though it’s nearby.

Once our hunger was getting the best of us, we took a small break and had some delicious Banh Mi’s. Because of our relaxed timeline we were able to refocus, change clothes and head to our next location, Mt. Tam.

Mt. Tamalpais or just Mt. Tam, is an amazing area with stellar views if you luck out and it’s not foggy. D worked near Mt. Tam, and was familiar with the area and chose some of his favorite spots. We were so lucky, the weather was perfect, sunny, and not cold. It’s just a small hike to see the lovely views. While we waited for sunset to come we explored a bit. S+D found some fun rocks to climb and a nice grassy hilltop to sit on while looking out to the water and SF in the background. Once the sun got a little lower we hiked a bit more and managed to watch a gorgeous sunset and S+D got snuggly under a blanket. It was the perfect non rushed day to spend with the best people, great weather, and awesome views.

If you have multiple locations in mind for your adventure session or elopement, I highly recommend booking more hours so you don’t feel so rushed when it comes to timing. Trust me, it won’t feel like a 4 hour photo shoot. It will feel more like three friends hanging out, having fun and taking photos. Oh and if you want to plan a Mt Tamalpais engagement session or elopement please let me know, I am dying to go back!
