YMCA Camp Campbell Rainy Wedding!

I love camp weddings! D+M’s YMCA Camp Campbell rainy wedding was sooooooo much fun and also the perfect example to not sweat the small stuff on your big day.  In the weeks leading up to their big day we were all watching the weather  super close since rain was on the horizon.  Since the activities, ceremony, and reception were all supposed to be outside, the possibility of a rainy wedding was less than optimal. D+M were game for anything.

The beginning of their weekend camp wedding went smoothly with camp activities, food trucks and a talent show.  On the big day rain was on the agenda but no one seemed to mind and we all came prepared.  We were amazingly lucky that the rain held out as long as it did.  They were able to get through the super fun morning camp activities including archery, mole hole, and zip lining. You can see all of the fun below!

Not to be dissuaded by the weather D+M had a wonderfully touching first look in the middle of the woods. We were able to get in a full portrait session before the rain started coming down.  Fortunately the staff at Camp Campbell were able to move the reception site inside the main lodge but the ceremony was still set to be outside in the Redwoods (if you have the chance to have your wedding in the redwoods go for it, you won’t be disappointed!). Being the chillest group ever, everyone grabbed an umbrella and went to the Redwood Chapel and had one of the best and most touching ceremonies I have ever been to.  No one was upset about being out in the rain. D+M shined through the inclement weather and could barely keep their hands off each other.

After the amazing ceremony we all tucked into the lodge. Although the first dance location was small and a little less than ideal in front of a projection screen, everyone made the most of it and had the best time! The outside dance floor opened up on the porch. Even though the rain was coming down pretty heavy at this point no one seemed to notice.  D+Ms camp campbell wedding might not have been how they originally envisioned it but their adaptability and happy outlook made the day absolutely perfect.

D+M were very adventurous and even went out in the rain with me to capture a lovely evening rain photo. A perfect example of how to make a rainy wedding day work for you instead of against you.
